January Update: Beginning of a year full of joy and determination

Welcome One Vision sponsors and friends! Something new we are doing this year is sharing monthly updates from Haiti right here on the blog. These updates are written by Francisco, One Vision Orphanage Director & President. We hope you are encouraged as you read how God is moving month by month. Please join us in prayer for the things Francisco shares in this update.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

–Proverbs 22:6

Regardless of how hard last year was, 2020 has started well for the children and employees at One Vision in Haiti. This happened because of the grace of God and your constant prayers.

First of all, the kids were able to go to school on January 6, 2020. After the Christmas holiday, teachers were cheerful to go back to work and were able to send their own kids to school as well with their income. We are so thankful that our One Vision kids are able to go to school but also that One Vision is able to provide many jobs so others can support their families.

Then, the most important thing of the month we did, was a TRAINING on how the children have to behave during an earthquake. It was a symbolic way to mark the 10-year anniversary of the earthquake, a disaster that happened in Haiti on January 12, 2010. We spent the whole week preparing the kids for a future earthquake, to reduce the amount of victims we used to have. We prayed for those who lost their families, thousands of people that passed away in that tragic moment.

Furthermore, the day of January 12, 2020 was a day for One Vision in Haiti to be grateful to those who helped us start our projects after the disaster. After the earthquake, our international partners and One Vision in Haiti were able to take action. A few months later, we started giving medical care, food kits, toilet supplies, and clothes to the survivors of the disaster. Many people, especially the kids were really in need. They could not afford almost anything, but we were able to provide them many things.

THANK YOU for helping us function through that time and now through your help and your prayers. A special THANK YOU to KATELYN’S FUND for their faith in our vision and for helping us grow with its generous support.

We THANK GOD for His amazing grace and mercy.
We all have different ideas, but the same vision because we are one in Him.
We all are part of one body, Christ’s family.
We believe that children’s lives needs to be saved.
We believe in their capacity.
We believe in their future.
They all have dreams.
They all have rights to live and realize their dreams.
Let’s continue to help them, for the future generation…
